Downtown Phoenix Zombie Walk 3 10/29/2011

On Saturday, October 29th, 2011, the Arizona Ghostbusters teamed up with the Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors and the Department Of Zombie Defense to host the 3rd Annual Phoenix Zombie Walk. The Walk was the big event at the Halloween Festival held in the historic Heritage Square Park in downtown Phoenix.

Entry for the walk was canned food donations to the local St. Mary's Food Bank. Zombie Make-Up was also provided for additional donations. 1569 lbs of food was collected and $200.00 for the food bank was collected from the make-up donations.

Almost 4000 zombies were in attendance, doubling last year's participation numbers. Almost a mile of downtown streets were closed while a police escort led the Ecto-AZ and the Arizona Ghostbusters on the route warning passers-by of the zombie outbreak. The Zombie Horde stretched for almost 5 full blocks. The Department of Zombie Defense helped keep the Zombies in line throughout the walk.

Dan Aykroyd Signing and MS Fundraiser 9/10/2011

On Saturday, September 10th, 2011, the Arizona Ghostbusters set up a booth to host raffles for the Multiple Sclerosis Society at a Dan Aykroyd Crystal Head Vodka signing at the local Bevmo. We were invited to set up our Ecto and booth at the event by BevMo and the vodka distributor. Folks were lined up before we even got there to set up. The line went all the way around the building and down the back of the strip mall. We set our Ecto and booth up next to the front door and the head of the local Multiple Sclerosis Society set up her table at our tent as well. When Dan showed up he made a beeline out of his RV to our Ecto and did a walk around giving it his seal of approval and then talked to be about how he remembered us from 3 years ago and the member hat we gave him then. He then went to the booth and autographed all of the items we were raffling off for the MS Society. He signed bottles long after the event was supposed to be over to make sure everyone got in. In the three hours we were there we collected $600.00 for the MS Society. We'd like to thank BevMo, Crystal Head Vodka, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the fans, and Dan himself for making it a great event.

Phoenix ComiCon 2011

The Phoenix ComiCon was unbelievable this year. The attendance was record setting and convention hall hours were extended because of it. Our booth was considered one of the most popular thanks to Puft looming over the hall. Anywhere you were you could see him. A lot of people used it at their meeting point. We also had our Ecto-AZ, Vigo Replica, and Real Ghsotbusters arcade cabinet set up.

William Atherton was only supposed to be there Friday and Saturday but he decided to stay all of Sunday too. William is a true gentleman and professional. Ernie was only in attendance on Sunday due to filming a movie here in Arizona. He stopped by our booth to see us and William. It caused a media circus and was an amazing moment to see the two actors together again.

We raised just $875 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation from raffles with $100 of that coming from the arcade machine. At $.25 a play that means it was played 400 times over the weekend.

All of our panels went great and Ernie’s was filled to capacity. We handed out 600 AZGB buttons and held the Slime Scavenger Hunt and Ghost Trapping Game for kids. We had tons of kids come in costume and a mom and her daughter came in Stay Puft costumes. The Zombie walk was also a huge success. Elvira also stopped by which caused another media circus. We set up our sound system speakers behind Vigo so after every few songs we had a Vigo quote play. It scared quite a few people, especially when they were in front of him for a photo. We'd like to thank everyone that stopped by our booth and the convention. We can't wait till next year's con.

Make-A-Wish Walk 3/5/2011

On Saturday morming March 5th, 2011, our team and Ecto-AZ participated in their first Wish Walk for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the Tempe Kiwanis Park. Ironically it's been our wish since we started in 2007 to get to work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and we're very proud we've gotten a relationship with them now. A game truck, Radio Disney, and the local fire department were also on hand. It was an awesome walk and we can't wait for another Make-A-Wish event.

1st Friday Artwalk 3/4/2011

On Friday night March 4th, 2011, our team set up a booth at the monthly 1st Friday Artwalk in Downtown Phoenix. It was the first event for our newest member Alex Gist. He has previously been a zombie at our last several zombie walks and we've managed to bring him back to the world of the living. We also managed to track down a Sony tape player at thrift store so a certain old soundtrack tape of mine got some good use again. The highlight of the evening was meeting an individual with the Hi-C cooler Slimer tatooed on his chest. We'd like to thank everyone that stopped by.
